Construction

The most notable aspect of the Stiga Expert Roller is the unique H-frame chassis. This European inspired design gives the table a classic and distinctive look while also providing an extremely sturdy playing surface. The heavy-duty steel table legs, cross-beams, and supports give the table extra rigidity and strength to withstand even the most aggressive play.

Atop the rigid H-frame is a 1-inch tournament quality MDF top that meets all the ITTF regulations for tournament play. The surface of the top is sanded and UV filled to provide the smoothest and most uniform playing surface possible. Many coats of a uniquely formulated paint are applied to give a consistent spin by making sure the friction coefficient meets the ITTF standards and is uniform throughout the entire playing surface. The tournament blue color of the top is sharp and adds the overall classic aesthetic of the Stiga Expert Roller. The white striping is actually silk-screen printed on the table itself to add any noticeable imperfections to the playing surface.

A classic wood apron extends 2.25” inches down around the edges of the top. It provides extra stability to the top while also making sure it is evenly supported throughout to ensure the bounce is consistent. Extending down from the apron are self-opening steel legs that measure 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches. These rugged legs are constructed of heavy-duty steel and give the table some added stability. To avoid any potential accidents with a table that is this heavy, the legs will automatically fold out when opening or closing the table. This is an important safety feature considering that this table weighs in excess of 300 pounds!

The frame of the Stiga Expert Roller sits on large 4-inch ball bearing wheels that can easily roll over pretty much any surface you can think of. Two of the four wheels can lock into place to keep the table sturdy during play.

Storage

The table can pretty easily be folded up for storage with storage dimensions of 60 inches wide by 30 inches deep by 62 inches tall. The table also comes with a dual tension safety latch system that will keep the table locked in position and prevent the table from accidentally folding down and hurting someone. The safety latches are red in color and can easily be depressed to allow the table to be unfolded.

Net System

The Stiga Expert Roller comes with a fairly standard 72-inch net and post system. This net system is very basic but it gets the job done. It comes with basic tension adjusters as well.

Conclusion

The Stiga Expert Roller is a no-frills tournament quality indoor table that is built with quality materials and is a great fit for intermediate to highly experienced players. While it doesn’t have any single “killer” feature, the Stiga Expert Roller is a great mix of solid materials, quality manufacturing and the necessary features for serious table tennis players. At this price point, we might have expected more convenience features but this bare-bones table still delivers on what really counts: a fantastic playing experience.
